The dizzying prices achieved by artists who pander to the financial elites, the proliferation of museums that contribute to the global competition between cities to attract capital, and the strange relationship between art and the rampant gentrification that restructures the urban landscape: these are the obvious features of art's subservience to capitalism. There is a flipside, however, which shows art playing an increasingly important role in resistance to austerity and the prefiguration of a different world. Delirium and Resistance engages in critical dialogue with artists' collectives, counter-institutions and activist groups, while reflecting on the inequalities of neoliberal culture. It draws on over thirty years of critical debates and practices both in and beyond the art world to historicise and advocate for the art activist tradition that radically entangles the visual arts with political struggles. 588 0 Print version record. 648 7 2000-2099|2fast 650 0 Art|xPolitical aspects|xHistory|y21st century. 650 0 Art|xEconomic aspects|xHistory|y21st century. 650 0 Art and society|xHistory|y21st century. 650 0 Art|xFinance. 650 0 Art, Modern|y21st century. 650 7 ART|xPerformance.|2bisacsh 650 7 ART|xReference.|2bisacsh 650 7 Art and society.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00815432 650 7 Art|xEconomic aspects.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00815231 650 7 Art|xFinance.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00815250 650 7 Art, Modern.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00816615 650 7 Art|xPolitical aspects.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00815309 700 1 Charnley, Kim,|eeditor. 700 1 Lippard, Lucy R.,|ewriter of foreword. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aSholette, Gregory.|tDelirium and resistance.|dLondon : Pluto Press, 2017|z9780745336848 |w(OCoLC)987004404 956 40 |uhttp://proxy.opal-libraries.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1506157|zView online 990 JSTOR|bBooks at JSTOR Evidence Based Acquisitions|c2020-12 -15|yNew collection jstor.ebookseba|5OXB 990 JSTOR|bBooks at JSTOR Evidence Based Acquisitions|c2020-01 -24|ySubsequent record output|5JCU 990 JSTOR|bBooks at JSTOR Evidence Based Acquisitions|c2020-01 -23|yNew collection jstor.ebookseba|5JCU 990 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America|c2018-11-23|yMaster record variable field(s) change: 650|5OHN 990 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America|c2018-06-22|yMaster record variable field(s) change: 650|5OHN 990 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America|c2018-04-13|yAdded to collection netlibrary.academicna|5OHN
